Play Pretends.

It's October 28th and that means it's so so close to Halloween! yay! And if you know me at all you'd know that I am a HUGE fan of dressing up. I call them "play pretends" and I'll try to fit some face paint into any situation or event I can. I am not worried about looking pretty I am always focused on having fun. I am always the one to start and usually everyone follows. Most Play Pretends have been accompanied by my friend Tiffany.
Tomorrow night is the 5th annual DAGGER DEATH RACE. A bicycle race invented by the local BMXers and my friends involving a race around Tempe doing silly tasks and finally ending at a bar they've rented out for the night to hold the after party. Every time I've attended it's been an incredibly fun time. Dancing and drinking (and eventually puking) with all our friends alll dressed up. I'm excited for this.

And Halloween is such a  fun time! Candy, scary movies, pumpkin carving, baking, haunted houses and best of all, adventure! I've had some of the best times of my life around Halloween.
Here are some photos of the Play Pretends I've had in the past. Always ending up an amazing time.

So I'll do a post after Halloween with as many photos I can come up with and show ya'll how awesome this weekend was! xx

Fat Tire Festival!

This last Saturday was a day I've celebrated every year since I moved to Phoenix. It's the Fat Tire Festival. Or also known as "Tour De Fat!" Super fun, beautiful weather, best friends, bicycles, costumes and BEER! There is a bicycle parade in the morning in the downtown Tempe area and then everyone will ride bicycles to Tempe Town Lake to go look at art, watch live music, make friends and stand in line for beer. HA. It's a great time. I took a bunch of pictures with my phone but unfortunately forgot to save them when taking them (My phone, Droid X2, verrry lame) so I only have some pictures that Jason and Tiffany took. I'm bummed because the parade is what's really great about this day. So many people with amazingly different and creative bikes. Bike that are super tiny, or bikes that are double deckers, bikes with a drum set attached and a man playing, bikes even with grills and people making hamburgers while riding! It's funny and fun and everyone has a great time with each other.

Love..

Today I'd like to post about love. I celebrate love everyday. I LOVE EVERYTHING. I seriously do. I of course, love my boyfriend. I love relationships. I've had many. But I don't only love my own. I often find myself reading and watching others relationships bounce back and fourth, fluctuating, growing immensely and sometimes falling apart. Here I would like to share two of my favorite videos I've found youtube-ing, blogging and surfing the internet of couples I just absolutely adore displaying their affection, love and stories for us all to see.

First, is my most favorite couple video I have ever come across. Featured are couple Naomi and Josh. They met in New York and currently live in Washington D.C. Her blog can be seen here. This little video made me cry the first time I watched it and I can't help but get a little teary eyed watching it again. They are such a beautiful couple. And what a cute video..

Secondly, I recently came across a video/shopping/lookbook type of website called The Kooples . A french site shopping site featuring couples who (if you take a quick look) are obviously very stylish and good-looking telling you a quick story of how they first met, how their first kiss was, how long they've been together etc.. while showing off their lovely taste in clothing. It's pretty darn cute. Here is one of my favorite couples:

I hope to make one with Jason sometime soon. I would love one for my own to watch when I get old.

Love you! xo

I've been up since 5:45 a.m. this morning. It's a little earlier than normal. Poppy usually wakes me up around 6:30 so I can take her out to go pee. Outside this morning is chillier than lately and lovely so I didn't mind making coffee and sitting out with her for a little while she sniffed her way around the yard. I don't have much to write about today since I don't really do very much. Lately I am feeling more motivated to go outside and actually go running. I am more of a gym person but Jason and I have moved WAY far away from the gym that I used to go to (pretty rarely) and some jerk stole my bike a few weeks back or else I would ride to itThere are many reasons why I don't enjoy running outside. Such as: 1. Where do I run to? 2. Do I just keep running 'till I'm bored? Then turn around? 3. The staring/cat calling. Are they staring because I'm large? They think I'm ugly? Hot? I donno. It bothers me. 4. I don't have one of those arm band Ipod holder thingys or proper headphones. Ear buds always fall out of my ears. I think they're deformed or something.  And lastly, 5. I don't have a running buddy... All decent reasons I think. But I am willing to toss all those aside and get my butt out and jogging at least. I have proper running shoes and comfy sweatpants so I'm just gonna do it! Maybe I'll see how Poppy does running on a leash and then she could be my running buddy. :) ta ta!

16 Things that make me so so happy.

                                                  (source: Weheartit.com)

Yesterday, I couldn't help but hear our neighbors having a very public and  pretty loud argument for 4 hours. I feel bad for people like that, fighting over money and drugs, and it made me very happy and helped me to be more positive to be where I am right now in life. So here are 16 things that make me so so happy as of right now...

  1. Making dinner in our tiny kitchen in our tiny apartment.
  2. Watching Poppy bounce around the yard.
  3. Drinking coffee out of all of my mismatched coffee mugs.
  4. Writing our shopping lists.
  5. Vacuuming
  6. My little plant that I've proudly kept alive for TWO years now.
  7. Feeling his scruffy beard against my cheek.
  8. Getting more than 8 hours of sleep every night.
  9. When Poppy yawns and her lips tuck under her teeth.
  10. Looking through my boxes of old photos and old letters.
  11. Taking trips with my beautiful best-friend Tiffany.
  12. Evening walks with Jason and Poppy.
  13. Anticipating  the holidays.
  14. Downloading movies.
  15. Our little "ticks". He twirls his hair. I pick my nail polish.
  16. Knowing always that Everything will Always Be Okay.

An "About Me"...

I suppose if I want to have readers that i'll need to introduce myself and introduce you to my family that I'll probably do the majority of my writing and posting about. I have never considered myself a writer in any sense and did horribly at it in school so humor me at my grammar, spelling and all that other junk that would make me sound smart. Here goes...

Here I am. Rachel. 26 years young. Have NO idea what I want to be "when I grow up". Brown hair. Brown eyes. Not tall enough to be that long legged beauty and not short enough to be that cute little fire cracker. Not really skinny. Got some meat (a little more than I would like) on my bones. Mostly in the trunk.... I used to enjoy sewing, painting, doodling and baking. But honestly, living in Phoenix, I am very unmotivated to do any of that anymore. I'm sure I'll pick it up again. I currently live the life of a housewife. Doing laundry, preparing dinner for my sweetheart and making sure I'm caught up on all of my favorite shows etc. I'll be recording my "life's progress" via this blog, so hopefully you'll be feeling less sorry for me and viewing me in a more positive way as my life progresses.

Alright. I'm lame. Let's get on to the two that make me happy...

Here is the boyfriend. Jason Owens. The sweetest boy. 25 years young. Brown hair. Big beautiful brown eyes. Biggest heart, great sense of humor and loves his mama. Awww.. We met at a place we both worked at. Getting off of work and having a few beers then riding around town at 1 a.m. used to be our thang. He now supports us by working 9 to 5 as a welder 5 days a week and also as a cook at a English Pasty Restaurant on the weekends. He has a passion for riding bikes and LOVES to go golfing when he can. I love him.

NOW... The beast that we adopted from the humane society and let live in our house for some reason. It might be because when she isn't digging in the bathroom trash, whining to be let in and out of the house, chewing up our plastic hangers, licking her bum and jumping up on the furniture she is the cutest and possibly the dorkiest dog I have ever met. And she does things and makes faces that just make you bust out laughing. Poppy is her name and  not listening to mommy and daddy is her game! Her favorite pass times are licking her chonch for hours, watching Homeward Bound and staring at mom. She hates getting her nails cut and the vacuum.

Well, there ya go. A proper introduction to my little family. More to come everyday. Uh, thanks for reading...

5 songs that make me incredibly happy right now.
